Welcome to my blog!

Kiran Mehdee

I am an artist, a writer of poetry, short stories, essays and articles, an actor and comedian and a spoken word performer. I’ve worked in I.T. since 2000, and am now back in school at the University of Toronto, pursuing a degree in Social-Cultural Anthropology and Sexual Diversity Studies. My goal is to work as an educator, and besides the very interesting and relevant topics I’m studying, my interests also include art, music, dance, mythology, nature, ethics, comedy, philosophy, and animals.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan in the late 1970′s, I grew up partly in my country of birth and partly in the U.S., before moving to Canada in 2004, with my partner.nThis blog is just my personal space to note things I like around the web and around the world – there’s no theme here other than “What Is On Kiran’s Mind Now” :) If you want to get updates/blog posts sent to you directly, simply subscribe using any of the methods in the right hand column (email, RSS, etc.)

While I do a lot of academic writing at University, this blog is is a venue for me to talk about issues that matter to me, and to other people, in more general ways – ways that are not just for academic consumption but can be accessible to the general public with varying levels of academic experience. I tend to post here in spurts – sometimes I will post everyday for a week, other times, I tend to either get bored with blogging and/or busy with other things in my life, and not post for weeks. I hope you don’t mind the erratic nature of my posting activity here. Check out the older posts too, they’re fun, and they’re all accessible via the Categories in the right hand column.

Please note that I moderate comments on this blog, primarily because I get a ton of spam comments that I filter out, but also because I do not tolerate any type of abuse. You are welcome to leave a comment on the posts, even if you disagree, as long as you can be respectful and present a reasoned argument for your opinion.
