Since January 10th, I’ve been working on the election campaign of Michael Shapcott, a candidate for the NDP, in the Toronto Centre riding.
There are so many things I am learning from my work there as a Phone Canvasser - how campaign offices are run, what the structure of a political party and campaign looks like from the inside, as well as various issues and how to handle them, on the phone when talking to voters.
The NDP has recently released its 2006 platform entitled Getting Results for People. A lot of the material there is the basis of my phone canvassing. The NDP has a brilliant vision for a Canada where both public and private officials and organizations are held up to scrutiny to ensure accountability and efficiency.
With a strong focus on the real values and priorities of Canadians, I believe the NDP has a very favourable chance of gaining more seats, and therefore, more influence in the upcoming Parliament.
